Update: it is for sale, samba ad here…. link
Washed and waxed, and I think up for sale soon. Only 88,000 km (55,000 miles), correction 84,099 km (50,459 miles) body, transmission, engine, all in great shape. I’ve driven it and honestly, it drives very smoothly. I wish my van felt half as good.

Exterior colour is a lot nicer than that beige syncro get-away I had. Hopefully Simon will have better luck selling than I did. (took me a lot longer to sell that I anticipated). Although mine was as rust free as they come and an original-paint low-miler, Simon’s looks nicer and appears to have a more deluxe vanagon interior. Mine, an ’86, had the base vanagon interior . Best wishes!

Hi Ed,
Yes, I agree with what you wrote. This van is the cleanest I’ve ever seen. The undercarriage is quite surprisingly un damaged by rust or dirt and almost like new. But what is most surprising, and I have driven a few syncros, is how smooth it feels when driving. The waterboxer has nice power, the drive train is very smooth ( sorry I can’t think of a better adjective) and you get that relaxed feeling when driving.
It really would be the perfect van for a couple who want to have the advantages of a syncro but not needing the “oh look at me with the big tires and hi lift jack and trasharoo etc ” look.
Cheers
Ab
Ps the Atwood heater works well. Quieter than my propex and it pumps out the heat.

I honestly don’t know right now. We’ve talked about the price of course, but I have to leave the final answer to him and I think he’s going to list it on the samba soon.
I’m not shilling for him, believe me when I say that it’s a very nice van and it has changed my opinion of get away conversions .
