I just got the ID from Ben. He beat you by a hair. Yeah the ladder there would bug the heck out of me. I wonder if you get used to it?

What to say???
Well, you COULD say….. “Hey that is awesome/unique”. Or you could say….. “I remember that van from past letters to the vanagon email forum”. Or you could say “I would sure like to meet them and talk about all the different mods to their van”. Or you could just say “So sad, another sweet, old Vanagon ruined with holes and nonsense modifications by another stupid van owner”. We have heard some version of those comments already.
You can see more photos of our modifications at http://www.slowcarfasthouse.com
By the way, we think ladder is awesome! It dries wet items, supports one end of a hammock and has earned its keep in deflecting rocks on roads in Yukon and Alaska. Once you start driving you hardly notice it there.
I wish the photographer would have left a note so we could meet up!

Ok, I’m publicly shamed now 🙂
It didn’t click when I got the pic. And yes I wish Thomas had known also and left a message on van.
Down get me wrong, I’m all for making the van suit ones needs. It’s just that the ladder right in front struck me as funny be usage of my adventures with putting one on the back. Well that and I thought it crazy to put a ladder there.
And today of all days I had to rush into the big smoke to pick up some parts that had been powder coated and get them to client stat. Otherwise I could have met you at the ferry, close by where I work.
So forgive me, no slight meant and safe journeys
Cheers

I agree, if it works for you go for it. I see that there is provision for it to be removed. It condo be useful to have it protecting front from branches…

You know, there is a fantastic variety of interesting cars in this area especially in the summer. Demographics and all that, but you’d be surprised what you come across. I had taken some pics and posted in blog, but I’ve let a lot get away.
