Trip – Much of the same

Another weekend trip to favourite places. A little different this time as there was little fog. I hope the residents of Neah Bay across the straits took the opportunity to hang laundry.

Obligatory clear cut shots.

And one of our favourite creeks.

Saw lots of shipping with the lack of fog. Cruise ships, oil tankers, and container ships. a few of this kind went past. I like how the containers are stacked in a subtle wedge shape.

Came across a doe and new born fawn. Fawn was very shaky and wouldn’t get out of the way.

    Alistair the axeman… yikes!
    Clear those roads.

The photo of the Deer fawn… oh so small and cute.
There are a few fawns wandering around my neighbourhood presently.
Yum… can we say veal here?

Another trip into nirvana… before the forests are closed to recreation/logging because the extreme fire danger.
Time to launch the canoe for recreation this summer… Camp on Dinner Island?

      Hi Phil,

Yeah I wonder about forest closures. A few years ago during a hot August the forests were closed, what ever that means , but we managed to find a couple of nice spots with the bonus of seeing no other traffic on the logging roads for about 5 days. So bring on the closures 🙂

But isn’t this years different? It really does feel like August down here.

I recall the forest closures the summer Kelonna burned…. 2004?
The Province attempted to yellow tape all forest roads…
Hah! Folks with local knowledge camped anyway.
I bought a canoe that year and paddled in with my mountain bike in the canoe….:-)

    This weather is rather strange.
Reminds me of summers back in the 1950-60’s when June was dry and warm.
The overall year 2015 has been drought-like and the snow-pack negligible…
Gonna be interesting at best and kinda concerning…
The central gyer of the Pacific Ocean has been warmer for the past few years…
The energy budget of this warm area is scary… will take years of net-cooling to slow the warming!

If anything, the future will be a sight to see….:-)
