The larger ones hung individually are the main crop (hard and soft necked). The bundled small bulbed ones are volunteers from another part of garden. The volunteers are nice tasting purple hard necks we planted years ago. Next season we will give some of them a better chance.
Some shallots hanging up there too.

easy as falling off a log. plant in late september, mulch with straw, pick off seed heads (scapes? and eat) in june/july, harvest late july.

funny about the shared interests, I suppose we Vanagon owners are a select bunch 🙂
BTW, the day we hung up the garlic we used a lot in that night’s supper, including that Spanish recipe, a version of aioli but with some new potatoes pounded in. We were sweating beads of garlic oil all night.
