I’ve posted about his transmission rebuild, and it all went back into the van with no bits left over. Quentin, from vivid vans, reports that he’s put 700km on the van since, and is super happy about the result. The van has a good look eh?

Looks very nice. 16 inch rims I gather? We all tend to run on 15” here in SA. Most commonly with 215/80/15 on.
What size tyre does that one have?
Big discussions in SA currently whether to down spec slightly to 215/75/15, which will ease up on gearbox stress and enliven through the gears a bit more. Question is will fuel consumption be better or worse?

Hi,
I’ll get the details when Quentin drops by to show the van. But yes they are 16” wheels, he did tell me the tire size but I forget.
Trans regeared, again I’ll get the memory refresh on that.
Interesting that there is a movement back to 15” and 215/75 tires. That’s what I’m running on mine, with stock gearing and old tired wbx engine. My van is slow 🙂
And I agree about reducing stress on driveline. I’m hoping to find suitable 16” steel rims and lower profile tires when currents tires need replacing . Yeah, I’ll sacrifice sidewall height. One thing though, tire choices are limited here for that.
Cheers
